Everglades National Park, largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, is a World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve, and Wetland of International Importance, significant to all people of the world. In addition to its remarkable natural resource values, Everglades also has a rich human history evidenced by hundreds of significant archeological sites, historic structures, and cultural landscapes, including complex shell works, dense tree island middens, vernacular and mid century architecture.
You will assist will all aspects of the Park's integrated cultural resource program, including archaeological site documentation and monitoring, archival research, database management, records management, curatorial processing, and compliance.
Requirements
Drivers License
US Citizen
Required Skills:
US citizenship; valid driver`s license; ability and willingness to undergo a required criminal history background check.
Desired Skills:
Outdoor skills,including backcountry navigation, GPS mapping skills, computer skills, GIS, writing skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, historical research, ability to work well with others.
Training:
Training will primarily be on the job, although Everglades is a large park that regularly conducts specialized training numerous aspects of park operations and management that may be available to the incumbent depending on scheduling and interests. Defensive Driving is mandatory.

Intern housing will be provided via seasonal housing, on-site trailer, owned bunkhouse, etc.
Transportation
Personal Vehicle:
Required: No other transportation is available to reach shopping facilities or worksite from housing location. Little possibility exists to share rides with other employees. Distances are too far to walk. Interns driving more than 1,000 miles will exceed the budgeted amount and will consequently increase the cost of the position.
