Job Duties Benefits Supplemental Questions
This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the student’s field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student’s education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.
In the Office of Environmental Services’ Cultural Resources Section & under the direction of the Assistant Environmental Administrator, collects data, conducts field work & conducts research by contacting representatives of various state & local agencies to provide inventories of items related to or affected by proposed transportation projects. Categorizes data using personal computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for cultural resource factors (e.g., archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic architecture sites & historic properties). Conducts literature research relating to archaeological & historic resources, performs field work under the direction of section staff, assists in the laboratory research, data analysis & preparation & review of survey reports & environmental documents, using Microsoft Word, Excel & Access. This includes formulation of project documentation & correspondence (e.g., using Microsoft Word). Operates a state vehicle to travel to data collection sites.
Assembles data for analysis (e.g., Microsoft Excel) to determine the environmental impacts of proposed transportation projects. Provides assistance in the review, of supporting material for cultural resource reports; assists in the maintenance of existing file systems, records, reports, & photographs as directed.
Assists in data entry, records management, & updating of existing filing systems. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must show proof of enrollment in College/University and must be in good academic standing.
Preferred Majors: Archaeology, Anthropology
If operating a State-owned vehicle, must show proof of valid driver's license.
Major Worker Characteristics:
**THIS POSITION IS OVERTIME ELIGIBLE BASED ON FLSA STANDARDS**
Supplemental Information:
The rate of pay is based upon the student's academic status:
Freshman: $7.30-$11.50
Sophomore: $7.50-$12.00
Junior: $7.91-$13.50
Senior: $8.69-$14.50
Graduate or Law School:
1st year $9.12-$15.25
2nd year $9.54-$16.00
3rd year $9.98-$17.50 (which is determined by the college or university.)
